It often seems that our minds are thinking all the time. However, as meditation practitioners soon discover, it’s not true at all. There’s a lot of space between our thoughts. Thoughts arise and then fall, and are replaced with new thoughts. With some practice, it’s easy to notice this space between thoughts, like the space between each breath. And if you look very carefully, you will find that the space actually exists behind your thoughts as well as between them. Intuition permeates this space behind your thoughts, and rises to awareness in the gap between ordinary thoughts.

The simplest way is to pose a question, then let go the need to have an answer right away. It is a seeding technique. You sow the question, then let it go to await the surprise of an answer later.
ACTION: Pose a question that has significance for you. Ask it in your mind and let go of it. You will notice that the question is surrounded by a vast space. That’s the gap. Relax into it and get comfortable there. It’s the friendly unknown, the zone of possibilities. From somewhere in the gap, when the time is right, you may be surprised by an answer to your question.
